This last week I tested the new women’s pattern by Dandelions N Dungarees, the Skater Dress. They have a girls version also but since I don’t have any girls *insert waterworks here* I only made the women’s pattern. I used a slick knit fabric that I had left over from the Betsy Multicolored dress from my shop and it worked out great. It’s definitely a dress that I will be wearing over and over again. Screen Shot 2015-07-14 at 12.21.14 PM

The dress is actually longer, about 4″ longer but I like to show off my legs when my upper body is more covered so I trimmed some of the length off. Screen Shot 2015-07-14 at 12.07.44 PM

As you can see there is still a good amount of length left on the dress. I also love the sleeves because I have an inverted triangle body and hold all my fat on my upper body. The longer sleeves allow for more coverage there and there’s a bit of gathering at the cap and also a strip of elastic on the sleeve to add even more rouching. You could of course, forego that and shorten the sleeve if you’d like. Screen Shot 2015-07-14 at 12.08.16 PM

The skirt is pleated all the way around, although you can’t see that on my dress because of the print, which I love! I got it at Joann’s in case you’re interested. Unfortunately I don’t have any selvage info so I’m sorry about that. Screen Shot 2015-07-14 at 12.08.30 PMThe bodice has 2 side panels so you could add a totally different fabric there and go crazy with color/fabric options. There’s also a sleeveless option in case any of you are interested in that option. The pattern made its debut today so make sure you check it out and buy it if you are in need of a great dress pattern with pleats. You can buy it HERE.
